inquire...

and then blog it out.

For my inquiry assignment, I chose to dive into advertising methods. In particular, I chose to dive into female objectification as an advertising method. I wanted to know why females are more likely to be objectified in advertising in comparison to men. What's the reasoning behind it? Whose fault is it, if anyone? It took a lot of research and "digging" to come up with what is found in the composition of my blog (click the word "blog" below to check it out) and through all the research and digging, I learned quite a bit of new information that I hadn't known or even realized before this assignment. I had no idea that objectification of women is linked to psychological and physical problems found in women, such as insecurity, bulimia, anorexia, lack of self-esteem, etc. It's crazy to think that advertising can, and does, have such a strong influence on consumers and society. I also learned a great deal of factual information (one of which is the fact that on average, we see 5,000 ads a day...5,000. That's a lot of ads) that really struck me as surprising and interesting.

I have learned that inquiring is not just asking a question, as we may assume. Inquiring is actually breaking apart a topic into factual information, studies, opinions, etc. surrounding the topic, then forming your own opinion or idea. Inquiring is so much more than just research. I see inquiring as almost puzzle-like. You take one piece, which fits into another, which fits into another, etc. until you see a bigger picture that no other has seen before (hopefully, I mean, that's the goal, right?). In other words, prove that there's more to it, whatever it is.
